Students must have passed the General Safety test with a total score of 50 out of 50.

Introduction to CTE 7th Grade

Students will be exploring the Culinary Arts Program.
Students will learn how to measure and combine ingredients.
Students will be baking cookies.

Introduction to CTE 8th Grade

Students will explore the Graphic and Commercial Arts Programs at the High School December 5-9, 2011
Students will explore the Automotive Technology and Sports Medicine Programs at the High School December 12-16, 2011.
Students will tour the programs and have an opportunity to learn more about them and meet the instructors before enrolling at the High School in February, 2012.
Any students that need to make up Welding test can do so after School before 4PM on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday.
All test must be made up before December 16, 2011.

To make up any missing assignment you need to attend the FFA Boot Camp on December 14, 2011 from 3:30 until 5:00 PM. Events scheduled are horseshoeing, branding, welding, etc....

Introduction To CTE - 8th Grade

Objective - Student will be able to safely see and build a molten puddle with a welding machine.

Shop orientation.
Starting an ARC and puddle building.

Introduction To CTE - 7th Grade

Objectives -

Learn how to upkeep a shop facility.
Learn the types of hard, medium and soft woods.
Learn to layout a project for use of a band saw.
Safely and properly use a band saw.

August 23 - 29 - Week 3

Introduction to CTE - 7th Grade

Students must have passed the General Safety test with a total score of 50 out of 50 by the time they enter class or they will receive a red check on Pride as they are not prepared for class.
Students will be taking the Wood Safety test, they must master the test with 100 percent in preparation to enter the woods lab.
Students are assigned that if Mastery is not achieved; they will have until the following class period to achieve Mastery. Those who do not meet the standard will not receive a Pride Stamp next week.

Introduction to CTE - 8th Grade

Students must have passed the General Safety test with a total score of 50 out of 50 by the time they enter class or they will receive a red check on Pride as they are not prepared for class.
Students will be taking the SMAW on Plate test, they must master the test with 75 percent in preparation to enter the welding lab.
Students are assigned that if Mastery is not achieved; they will have until the following class period to achieve Mastery. Those who do not meet the standard will not receive a Pride Stamp next week.

Introduction To Career Technical Education (7th and 8th grades)

Orientation General Safety

General Shop Safety Unit - Students will be learning the basics of shop safety. All Students will be required to pass the safety test with a 100% before being allowed into the shop.

Objectives - Students will be able to:

classify burn and take steps to treat them properly.
gain knowledge on how to work ergonomically and safe.
learn about personal protective equipment and how to properly use it for their safety.
explain the purpose of a Material Safety Data Sheet.
explain fire and electrical safety practices and rules.
explain how to combat the different types of fires.
learn how to safely use different type of power tools found in a metals shop.
learn how to properly lift and carry heavy materials.
